Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL review: a new winning style?

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL review. Problems during the build phase? Corsair trims RAM for better compatibility

Let's start from the very beginning. Corsair has been so successful in the world of RAM with the Vengeance Pro RGB series released in 2018, this line impressed with price, quality, performance in everyday use and overall balance, but most of all in terms of design. It is the white version that users have especially liked in recent years. But if colors are purely a personal factor, what they are not is a criticism that some users have carried over to one aspect: the height in the volume of space of the diffusion system.

Let's get one thing clear. Not all heatsinks and cases on previous Vengeance Pro RGB models were broken and damaged during the build phase, but only some specific models. In fact, this counter does not want to replace the "big brother", but to become an alternative for certain users.

The fact is that it was written by a good corsair who knew how to listen to his community, creating a long-awaited product. The classic Vengeance Pro RGB solutions are 51mm tall (high profile) and are not always compatible with liquid coolers (especially top-mounted heatsinks), but also with some air coolers that impinge on RAM capacity, these new Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro The .SL instead features a more versatile 44mm (low profile) height and adaptability to any need.

Looking at the Vengeance RGB Pro SL, we can't help but notice the dynamic RGB lighting, which consists of ten independent zones, individually controlled using iCUE proprietary software. As we anticipated at the start, these RAMs are 44mm tall (low profile) to ensure maximum compatibility on a case-by-case basis.

The heatsink used by Corsair in these RAM modules is the classic and already consolidated brushed finish aluminum block that we can find throughout the Vengeance RGB family. In this new series we find only the initials of Vengeance in terms of text with a new design. I would say modern and minimalistic, just like the Corsair logo located just above the initials. The same style we liked in our review of the Corsair 4000D case.

Tastes aside, we find ourselves in front of a very good bank of RAM, and well made without getting too "luxury". In any case, we are not faced with a distorted design compared to its smaller sisters, but only with an engineering adaptation that allows us to reduce the height of those same 7mm.

Continuing the analysis of these RAMs, we notice a limited development in height. The previous ones had a particularly elongated circuit board with the corresponding controller located almost at the end of the same circuit board. In this case, we have a new design, the controller is logically lower, and the configuration with Layout A2 is kept for the IC modules. An excellent option that combines a compact size with solid performance.

Let's talk about iCUE

As always, when you buy a Corsair product, you have the opportunity to reap the benefits of iCUE: a significant added value.

In particular, thanks to the Corsair software, we will have the ability to control the graphics and the temperature of our memories, in addition to the obvious possibility of assigning a set of colors with total ease. What to say? Corsair isn't particularly afraid of the competition on the software side, especially because of the ecosystem it's building.

From the technical passport to the battlefield | Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL review

We're happy to get our hands on the signed CMH16GX4M2D3600C18 model, which, as the model code suggests, is a 16GB 2 x 8GB variant running at 3600MHz and clocked at C18-22-22-42.1.35V.

Corsair offers different options for this family, indeed everyone will find something for themselves. The wide range covers frequencies from 3200 MHz to 3600 MHz with a maximum capacity of 128 GB (4 x 32 GB) in black or white. Optimized for Intel and AMD platforms, they support XMP 2.0 profiles for quick setup. The RAM has a 2T instruction rate for the XMP profile.

This RAM family obviously assembles single sided IC modules (for a single rank configuration) and so if on one side we find the chips, on the other we find a sponge layer for symmetrical PCB and heatsink placement.

We begin our analysis of these RAMs by "observing their DNA under a microscope", so for this verification we support
